The Orang Asli of Kampung Kachau Luar have had it tough in recent years; previously, they were a community on part of the site that is now UKM, until they were moved on (several times) to their present site outside Semenyih (see map of KKL above).

Dislocation like this (especially with no land tenure, so the risk of being moved on at any time is always on their minds).

Could you plan ahead, knowing that you could have everything taken away from you at somebody else’s whim?

So this new Project – the UKM KKL Eco Village – is a chance for a whole new life, not just for individuals in the Kampung, but for the whole community.

Prisitne hillsides

Glorious views

Natural settings

The Project will see up to 20 chalets built for tourists and visitors to stay in the pristine hillsides next to the Kampung – and with the help of many people, the KKL community will learn how to manage the Village and look after the visitors so they can truly own their own destiny.

Visitors will love the serenity and the activities available – trekking, learning craft making waterfall visits, herb trails, Orang Asli ceremonies and more – all the “experiential travelling” that people are looking for nowadays.

The Chalets will be a new modular design that is comfortable, sustainable and off-grid (using eco friendly materials and technologies) and the KKL community and UKM staff, students and other volunteers will erect the Chalets – a truly “hands-on experience.

This is HUGE!

Toyota has granted our Orang Asli Eco Resort Project a share in this year’s CSR funding – and we are so grateful.

Thank you Toyota!

AJM Planning and Urban Design Group Sdn Bhd (APUDG)

The guys and girls from APUDG are simply great – they have agreed to help us with the land survey and the resort layout and design as part of their CSR programme for this year.

Thanks guys – check them out here for all you town planning, survey and design needs –

Max Capital Management

Another great Malaysian company supporting this project with resources, cash and time – Max Shangkar, thank you and your team for all your support. See Max Capital for all your wealth creation and investment needs –

MCM GreenMan Group Sdn Bhd

MCM GreenMan will be supplying all of our chalet modules, using their eco modular building designs.

GreenMan donated the resort reception module to get the project started, so we look forward to partnering with them to get the eco resort built, using MCM GreenMan modules and the Orang Asli and UKM students to erect and fitout.

More exciting updates soon

What do we need from you?
Well obviously funds:)

But also in-kind and volunteer support.

The Project has been costed at RM2M, which enables 20 Chalets (10 studios and 10 family), infrastructure, landscaping, reception and dining area to be built.

Proposed Layout (final design and plot marking underway)

That doesn’t mean we need the whole RM2M in one lump sum; as soon as we get some of your much appreciated donations in, we will start construction.

The modular building approach means we can be up and running very quickly, so the Project can start taking visitors within weeks of commencement.

If you are an individual, we have a range of  Free Nights Rewards for you, to share with your family and friends.
